MOTOR CARRIER PERMIT
The DMV's Motor Carrier Department issues motor carrier permits to trucking businesses that run commercial motor carriers. This indicates that the motor carrier complied with all regulations necessary to conduct business and registered their carrier identification number with the Department of Motor Vehicles. The permit lists every piece of information related to the motor carrier, including Name, mailing address, permit expiration date, and others.

- An MCP is necessary if you operate a motorbike courier business.
- Generally, anybody driving a commercial vehicle with a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) of 10,000 pounds or more.
- Both private and commercial use are included.
- Organizations driving cars carrying people's possessions or property are classified as "private" motor carriers.
